Williams has invested in eleven new Volvo FH Aero 460 6×2 tractor units. These sleek, eco-focused, low-emission powerhouses have joined our fleet of 35 commercial vehicles. Each has an impressive 460 hp Euro VI-compliant D13TC Step E engine, which can produce a peak torque of 2,600 Nm. The new additions will operate seven days a week from our depots in Cynwyd and Sandycroft.
The FH Aero’s market-leading driver-centric safety suite is one of the most advanced and highly rated safety systems, sitting at the very top of Euro NCAP’s ratings. Its innovative camera monitoring system (CMS) replaces traditional exterior mirrors, boosting aerodynamic performance and significantly increasing the driver’s field of vision. With its auto-panning functionality, the FH Aero automatically tracks the rear of the trailer to maintain optimal visibility through every turn.
Designed to reduce emissions and save fuel through advanced aerodynamics and efficient drivelines, the FH Aero is engineered for sustainability. Its predictive cruise control system, iSee, uses topographic data to optimise speed and gear selection, while its 12‑speed I‑Shift automated gearbox is central to its fuel‑efficient performance. Volvo’s ultra‑efficient turbo compound engine recovers waste heat and converts it into usable power, delivering greater efficiency and increased torque.
Commenting on this latest investment, Managing Director Huw Williams said:
“Introducing eleven Volvo FH Aeros in our fleet is a proud and defining moment for Williams. These vehicles fully reflect the professionalism of our service offerings, optimise our sustainability credentials, and provide our drivers with unrivalled safety and comfort. They are performing exceptionally well for us and are perfectly suited to the demands of nationwide transport.”
As well as strengthening our own sustainability performance, this investment directly supports our customers in reducing emissions across their supply chains. Our customers benefit from cleaner, more fuel‑efficient transport and more sustainable end‑to‑end logistics.
The FH Aeros were supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials with the assistance of Andrew Ellis, Customer Solutions Manager. This investment is pivotal to Williams’s commitment to continuous improvement and will allow us to provide the highest standard of service to our customers across the manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food production, and packaging sectors.
