Huw Williams, Alwyn Williams and Callum Macfarlane came together to represent Williams at this year’s Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon, raising an incredible £4,159 in support of Cancer Research UK. The team completed the race in an impressive time of 1:45:56, smashing their target of 1:50:00! Their outstanding performance is a testament to their determination and commitment to raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK, a cause close to their hearts.
Funds raised from the trio’s run will go towards funding life-saving research and increasing awareness for a disease that has touched so many lives. Donations are still welcome, and contributions can be made at https://www.justgiving.com/page/williams-wrexhamhalfmarathon.
Reflecting on the experience, Director Huw Williams said:
“Running for such an important cause kept us motivated throughout the race. The atmosphere was electric, and the support from other runners and spectators was immense. I’m incredibly proud to have run alongside Alwyn and Callum, and we are so grateful to our customers, suppliers and friends who supported us by donating such a phenomenal amount of money for Cancer Research UK. This support provided huge motivation on the day; thank you to you all.”
The team achieved personal bests at the 10 km, 15 km, 10 mile and 20 km points, as well as for the half marathon overall! This year’s race saw a record number of participants, with well over half of them hailing from the city. After crossing the finish line, Huw, Alwyn and Callum were treated to some tasty Welsh treats, courtesy of the Village Bakery. The team is already making plans to celebrate the race’s 30th anniversary in 2026!
Cancer Research UK wants to bring about a world where everybody can lead longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer. It funds pioneering research to help beat cancer sooner and provides cancer information to the public. Every donation you make powers another year of life-saving research to beat cancer.
